We assume you already have an Amazon account.
Methods
You can disable the Voice Purchasing on an Alexa device, such as an Echo or our Reason Clock, by
- Visiting https://alexa.amazon.com in a web browser, or
- Using the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone.
Method 1: Making changes through a web browser
Open https://alexa.amazon.com in a web browser. The login (user name and password) is the same as that of your Amazon account. The Voice Purchasing settings can be found under Settings.
Click Voice Purchasing. The toggle button allows you to enable/disable Voice Purchasing. Should you opt to enable Voice Purchasing, you can further set up a 4-digit voice code to guard against unauthorized purchases.
Please remember to close the web page after you're done.
Method 2: Making changes in the Amazon Alexa app
Download and install the Amazon Alexa app on your phone's app store. Open the Amazon Alexa app. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner. Tap Account Settings.
Tap Voice Purchasing (see below):
Make desired changes in the Voice Purchasing screen (see below):
